Walmart-Magazine-April-2014In the April 2014 issue of Walmart Live Better, Dr. Rivers is quoted in an article on eco-friendly beauty products:

“’People are starting to realize that certain ingredients have the tendency to cause allergies on the skin,’ says Dr. Jason Rivers, a clinical professor at UBC and dermatologist at Pacific Dermaesthetics in Vancouver. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergic reactions from makeup or skincare products, it’s a good idea to look for key terms like hypoallergenic, and fragrance-free, preservative-free and synthetic-free. It’s simple: the fewer chemicals, the better.

Dr. Rivers suggests looking for products with vitamins A and E, which are known antioxidants. When applied topically, they plump up the skin and minimize dark spots. Be careful not to go overboard, as when used in excess they’ve been known to cause irritation, redness and peeling.”
