Dr. Rivers weighs in for Global News story on “Back acne: How you get it and how to get rid of it”

Interestingly, approximately 22% of women between the ages of 20 and 40 suffer from acne, so it’s not an affliction of the young as most people think.

Dr. Jason Rivers of Pacific Derm was one of the dermatologists consulted for the story, and here is some advice that he offered:

On causes of acne:

“It’s possible that food can also affect acne,” says Dr. Jason Rivers, president of the Acne and Rosacea Society of Canada, and points to dairy as a likely culprit.

On cleaners:

“Use a gentle cleanser, especially after working out or doing anything that will cause you to sweat,” Rivers says.
