Results You Can See And Feel™
The Fraxel® re:pair treatment is a revolutionary way to correct aged and damaged skin without the prolonged downtime and adverse reactions of other laser resurfacing procedures; or the risks and complications often associated with surgical procedures.
Not only does it rejuvenate tired skin, it treats wrinkles, irregular texture, age spots and sun-induced redness. Furthermore, it can safely tighten loose and wrinkled skin around the eyes providing for a more youthful and rested appearance. Fraxel re:pair is an effective, non-invasive way to tighten the skin and remove years from your appearance—typically in a single treatment.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing Technology
Pacific Dermaesthetics was the first clinic to offer Fraxel re:pair treatments in Vancouver. The technology is a CO2 (high-intensity carbon dioxide) laser combined with fractional laser therapy that uses points of light to precisely treat thousands of microscopic areas of your skin.
In the past, “ablative” CO2 lasers would remove the entire surface of the skin, resulting in something looking like a second-degree burn that required a long healing process. Many people still avoid CO2 lasers because of this. With Fraxel re:pair, the technology has changed and is vastly improved with fractional laser therapy.
An advanced laser resurfacing treatment, Fraxel re:pair penetrates deep into the skin to remove old, damaged skin cells. This action stimulates your body’s natural healing system and replaces the discarded cells with fresh, glowing, healthy skin. Because the Fraxel re:pair technology is so precise, the treatment can be targeted to work on the face as well as delicate skin areas like the neck, chest and hands.
What to Expect
A topical anesthetic is used to numb the treatment area. An injection of local anesthetic will also be done to more sensitive areas of the face. You may feel an increased sensation of heat on your skin during the actual procedure, which takes on average 30-45 minutes.
After treatment, the most common findings are redness and swelling, similar to a sunburn. Skin may also be dry, flaky and/or itchy. These subside after a week but the exact timing will depend on the aggressiveness of your treatment and how you heal. In general, more aggressive treatments produce better results, but also require more downtime.
About one week after a Fraxel treatment, the surface of your skin will feel softer, look brighter and show a more even tone. Over the following six to nine months, you’ll continue to see improvements in the treated area(s) as the deeper layers of skin form new collagen as a normal part of the healing process.
