Glow-health workshopIn the Winter 2013 issue of Glow, Dr. Rivers was quoted in the article “Eau, Baby” about natural spring water and its reported healing properties for troubled skin.

An excerpt from the article by Lisa Hannam:

I also speak with Dr. Jason Rivers, a clinical professor of dermatology at the University of British Columbia, about how water dehydrates the skin. “Water is important for the normal function and structure of the skin,” he says, on the phone from Vancouver. “But when you’re in water for a longtime, it weakens the skin’s barrier function and there will be water loss.” To prevent your skin from drying, Rivers says to keep your showers and baths to 15 minutes (treatments at the hospital vary but are generally 20 minutes), and keep skin hydrated post-shower with moisturizers containing ingredients such as glycerine, mineral oil, propylene glycol, glycerol and aloe vera.
