Dr. Ulmer is presenting a free talk called “Rosacea Help” in conjunction with the Acne and Rosacea Society of Canada on May 12th in West Vancouver.
In an article in the North Shore News, the chairwoman and executive director of the Society, Sue Sherlock, notes, “Our big concern and major driver in setting up the society is that acne and rosacea affect the face in most cases – the first thing that people see – and can have significant emotional effects from low self-esteem to embarrassment, social anxiety and even depression in some.”
Dr. Ulmer says, “Although we don’t have a cure for rosacea there are many safe and effective treatments to minimize the signs and symptoms….It’s so nice when you see a patient in followup who comes in standing a little taller, or with no makeup, or with their hair pulled back instead of it covering their face. It’s always wonderful to hear that someone is feeling more confident and positive about their skin.”
